Professor Penny Sparke is a ProVice-Chancellor and the Director of the Modern Interiors Research Centre at Kingston University, London. She graduated from Sussex University in 1971 and gained her doctorate in 1975. She taught Design History between 1972 and 1999 at Brighton Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art. She has published over a dozen books focusing, since the mid 1990s, on the relationship between design and gender. Her books include As Long as It’s Pink: The Sexual Politics of Taste (1995); Elsie de Wolfe: The Birth of Modern Interior Decoration (2005); and The Modern Interior (2008).
